The following steps are necessary for the WWC Financial Aid Office to successfully process any veterans benefits:
1. Go to and review the "How to Apply" page on the education section of the VA.gov website -- click here to open the page in another window
2. Use the dropdown menu under "How Do I Apply" to find and complete the correct benefit application
3. Once approved by the VA, you will receive two certificates of eligibility. Please keep one of these for your files and send the other to the Warren Wilson College Financial Aid Office
4. Submit the "Intention to Utilize VA Benefits" form to notify the WWC Financial Aid office of your intent to use VA benefits
Once you have applied, you should receive notification from the VA that your application is being processed. It can take up to three weeks for you to receive this letter.
You will typically receive the two certificates of eligibility mentioned above within 60 days of completing your application through the VA.gov website. Please be sure to retain one of these certificates and get the other to the WWC Financial Aid Office. This step is crucial, as the FAO will use this document to certify your benefits.
IMPORTANT: the VA can take up to 9-12 weeks to finish processing your benefits. Please initiate the application process as early as possible in order to ensure that your benefits can be processed in a timely manner. Please also be sure to stay on top of all other requirements for admissions, financial aid, billing, and registration during this time.
