Criteria for acting as a School of Record
The following criteria are used in determining the appropriateness of acting as school of record (SOR) for a select number of educational partners:
- The program must be one Warren Wilson College actively uses and supports for WWC students
- The program must be one WWC has confidence in and experience with, as well as a stake in the academic content and quality of the programs
- The program must have appropriate oversight mechanisms in place, such as advisory boards or councils and review processes.
Approval Process
For approval and ongoing support of our SOR partners, the following is required:
- Approval and ratification by the International and Intercultural Programs Committee (the International Programs' campus oversight committee, consisting of collegiate and university-wide academic leadership, faculty members, and students).
- Ongoing active participation by faculty and staff from Warren Wilson College in oversight of programs, review of curriculum, and review of faculty qualifications.
- Bi-annual site visit conducted by WWC staff to review the partner's onsite programming, course work, and facilities.
These processes have been developed in consultation with the Forum On Education Abroad’s Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.
Current Partners
Warren Wilson College currently acts as School of Record for the following partners:
There is an administrative fee for the School of Record service managed by the program provider. This fee covers Warren Wilson College student record creation, non-degree registration at the College during the term abroad, and an official College transcript to be sent to the student's home institution at the end of the program including the study abroad coursework. The transcripting process can take up to, but no longer than, 4-6 weeks after the Global Engagement Office has received the study abroad grades from the provider.
